Changes at CFJ

As of yesterday, Sean Rushton, the Committee For Justice's executive director, left the organization to take a position with the Bush Administration. He had been with CFJ for nearly four years and is largely responsible for the group's success. We'll miss him, and I suspect he'll miss the fun of working at CFJ.

After serving as CFJ's general counsel, I will now be taking over Sean's position. Though I have big shoes to fill, I'm looking forward to the challenge.

Congratulations, Curt. Good luck in your new position. Same to Sean.

Curt, I think that conservative nominees are the way to go and that the public needs to have up-to-date information on them. Unfortunately, the Committee for Justice has not updated its listing of current nominees in a long time:

http://committeeforjustice.org/contents/nominees/

This looks bad because it makes the CFJ look like it doesn't mind providing misinformation.

On the CFJ nominees page, Boyle should not be listed as "filibustered". He never has been because he has never received a failed cloture vote, a prerequisite of being filibustered.

The names of Kavanaugh, Ikuta, Gorsuch and Holmes need to be removed because all have been confirmed. On the hand, the names of Keisler, Livingston, Jordan, Murphy, Kethledge and Hardiman need to be added as new nominees.

Good points. I've noticed that with CFJ's website for a couple of years.

Also, the DOJ's OLP website for juducial nominees is really bad about updating. It doesn't even let you access any info on Keisler or any recent nominees. These people have to get their acts together - no wonder we can't get anyone confirmed lately.
